Toby Boothman

It is possible that Toby Boothman’s paintings would not look out of place in a fifteenth century Flemish studio. His favoured subject of lustrous female faces wrapped in turbans, have a timelessness about them that is a direct result of his understanding of the technique of the Renaissance masters. And given his glowing translucency and his intensity of colours, it is a technique that has been successfully mastered.
