Christopher Green
Born: 1965, Nottingham, England
Christopher Green wanted to be an artist from a very young age and his parents always recognised that and encouraged him to draw and paint. Later, he obtained a degree in Illustration and was represented by one of London’s top agencies where he produced detailed realistic paintings for major publishing houses such as Penguin Books, agencies, design companies and theatres and film companies. Whilst this combination of outlets was exciting for him professionally, he started spending more time working on his personal work moving from a commercial approach to a more independent one.
His oil paintings are incredibly captivating. Over the years, the artist has developed his own identity of symmetrical compositions with an interplay of light on different surfaces such as chrome and glass. Although he often uses photography to capture transient lighting conditions, Cristopher Green has absolutely no desire to produce a faithful reproduction of the photographs themselves. Instead he uses the images as reference points to help him portray the intrinsic beauty of everyday objects frozen in time.
Green’s work can be found in public and private collections all over the world such as Harrods, Fortnum & Manson and the Walt Disney Corporation. He has received numerous prestigious commissions including a triptych for the Royal Society in London which now hangs as a partner to a Savador Dali work in their head office on the Mall.
