Overview

1962, Karlstad, Sweden

Johannes Wessmark worked as an advertising and computer graphics illustrator for fifteen years, only deciding to take on painting full-time in 2006. Today, Wessmark is known for painting beautiful women usually in water settings. The artist remarks that spending his summer holidays on Sweden’s west coast and many other positive experiences with water greatly contributed to his inspiration as an artist and how he chooses to portray his subjects. With flow and form, his subjects come to life and transmit a sense of calm and relaxation to the viewer.

Throughout his career as a painter, Johannes Wessmark has won multiple awards, exhibited in Spain, Sweden, the UK and US and seen his paintings enter private and public collections.
