Overview

David Wheeler’s paintings have consistently explored his relationship and fascination with the urban environment while incorporating a passion for sculptural forms.

In recent years his horizons have widened as his latest work reflect a new found passion for Italy, the birth place of geometrically inspired realism and home to a quality of light quite different to the North European experience. His epic vistas of cities such as Florence and Rome are on first sight highly intricate backdrops for the viewer to explore. By the rigour of his approach and the quality of his draughtsmanship we are never lost but walk alongside the artist experiencing a sense of place that is both physically all encompassing and visually thrilling.
