Adolfo G. Bigioni

Works
Overview

Born: 1974, Italy

Adolfo G. Bigioni attended the University of Rome in 1993, studying illustration and anatomical surgical drawing. After perusing a career in human anatomy drawings, in 2006 he devoted himself entirely to painting still lifes.

Bigioni's work exemplifies how Hyperrealism can transform and elevate everyday objects with carefully constructed compositions, immense detail and beautiful reflections. His canvas’ are simple with perfectly balanced light and shadow and he removes the objects from context placing them on a grey surface against a black background. The artist's work explores the distinction between reality and representation.

Bigioni draws inspiration from his immediate surroundings, turning everyday elements like a table adorned with a basket of fruit, a confectionery, or a glass of wine into exquisite paintings. Mundane objects that typically escape our notice are placed into the spotlight at the center of his canvases, compelling viewers to engage with them in a way that we simply can't look away from.
