Overview

Born: 1937, Ventura, California

Jack Mendenhall is one of the original Photorealists of the 1960’s. Fascinated with printed advertising imagery, he focused on meticulously rendered paintings of luxurious home interiors, using these curated spaces as subtle critiques of societal values. Over time, his work evolved to feature idealized depictions of exotic resorts—complete with pools, palm trees, and scenes of leisure—imbued with an underlying sense of irony.

With a career spanning 50 years, the artist has been featured in various exhibitions and publications, and his work can be found in private and public collections.
