Overview

 Thomas Ostenberg's sculptures reflect his personal search for an emotional and spiritual equilibrium. They have been described as joyful and magical - qualities that are highly unusual for contemporary art, and yet are so effective in his work. When viewing the feats of enormous physical control and the extraordinary mental focus that his sculptures depict, one can experience a triumph over contemporary malaises such as nihilism and despondency - and ultimately, to feel some sort of joy in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. In Ostenberg’s own words, his work "touches on the moment of stepping into the unknown and doing so willingly."
