Overview

Born: 1964, Bad Iburg, Germany

Stephan Kaluza is a renowned painter, photographer, and author of plays, novels, and non-fiction works. Now based in Düsseldorf, Kaluza brings a rich intellectual background to his art, having studied Art History and Philosophy—disciplines that deeply inform his creative practice

.

A lifelong lover of nature, Kaluza captures its essence with striking clarity and emotional depth. His acclaimed series 'Transit II ' feature expansive seascapes and forest scenes inspired by photographs taken in two dramatically different environments: the ancient Teutoburg Forest—where he owns a secluded home—and the untamed tropical jungles of the Amazon, Indonesia, and Uganda. By merging these contrasting landscapes, Kaluza creates powerful, immersive paintings that evoke the mystery and majesty of the natural world. His monumental canvases invite viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the primal forces of life that still thrive around us.

Today, Stephan Kaluza’s work is held in numerous collections worldwide, celebrated for its poetic vision and reverence for the natural world.
