Joseph McNamara is known for portraying scenes of industrial America. His sharp depictions take many months if not years to complete and reflect the artist’s observations of humanity’s desire and need to create.
At first, these landscapes may appear random and derelict, but in reality they reflect where it all begins: the imprint of human will and interaction. McNamara brings the viewer back to an almost Industrial Revolution state, imbuing his paintings with a sense of triumph and the fundamental urge to create.
Joseph McNamara has exhibited his work since 1973 in many prestigious museums and galleries across the globe, and has made television appearances in Japan, New York and Sweden. Two of his paintings were recently acquired by the New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut.
